This summer I decided to include Genesis Belanger in a three person group at OUTLET gallery titled Natural Tendencies. A few weeks ago I was able to see the works that she produced over the summer up in Vermont and was so excited to see this new work. I particularly enjoy the way she is combining fabric, porcelain, paint, metal and concrete into beautifully abstract sculpture. Some of them are floor pieces, other can be mounted on the wall. Genesis has also been experimenting with integrating lights and movement into the work. I am so impressed with the current work. Here are some quality images she has of her new creations, as well as some shots from her studio.
Genesis earned her MFA at Hunter College and her BFA at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was recently named by the Huffington Post as one of "Four Contemporary Female Artists Who Are Shaping the Future of Painting."
